The News (Al-Naba')
40 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej) before The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ OF WHAT ARE they asking one another? 1 About the awesome tidings [of resurrection] 2 whereon they are at variance. 3 But they will soon come to know. 4 Yes, indeed, before long they will learn all about it. 5 Did We not make the earth a spreading, 6 and the mountains [its] pegs? 7 And We have created you in pairs. 8 and We appointed your sleep for a rest; 9 And made the night as clothing 10 and We made the day for a livelihood. 11 Have We not made seven strong heavens above you, 12 And We made a shining lamp, 13 And We send down from the clouds water pouring forth abundantly, 14 so that We may bring forth thereby grain and a variety of plants, 15 And gardens thick with trees. 16 Surely, the Day of Judgement has an appointed time. 17 The Day when the Trumpet will be blown, and you shall come forth in crowds (groups); 18 The heavens will be opened wide and turn into so many doors, 19 and when the mountains are made to vanish as if they had been a mirage. 20 Behold, Gehenna has become an ambush, 21 For the transgressors, a place of return, 22 therein they shall abide for ages, 23 Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink. 24 Save boiling water and a paralysing cold: 25 a fitting requital, 26 for they never expected to be called to account, 27 And called Our communications a lie, giving the lie (to the truth). 28 and everything We have numbered in a Book. 29 (They will be told), "Suffer, We shall only increase the torment for you". 30

كيف تعمل منظومة تمارين الحفظ؟ عند أدنى مستوى 0، تكون كل الكلمات ظاهرة. بينما يُخفي أعلى مستوى 9 كل الكلمات. فكيف تعمل المستويات المتوسطة، مثل 3، على سبيل المثال؟ قد تعتقد بأن المنظومة تخفي 3 من كل تسع كلمات بدقة. ليس تماما! في المستوى 3، لكل كلمة فرصة اختفاء بنسبة 3 من 9، و6 من 9 لتكون ظاهرة. بمعنى آخر، من الممكن، ولكن باحتمال شبة معدوم، أن تكون جميع كلمات المستوى 3 مخفية، أو أن تكون جميعها ظاهرة! وكذلك أيضًا، ففي المستويات المتوسطة، وبما يتناسب مع مستوى الصعوبة، يمكن أن تكون المخابئ غير كاملة أو شفافة جزئيًا بحيث تظهر الكلمات جزئيًا تحتها.
How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
