The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
When the sun (with its spacious light) is folded up; 1 When the stars fall, losing their lustre; 2 And when the mountains are made to pass away, 3 when ten-month pregnant camels are left untended, 4 The wild beasts stampede on the run, 5 when the seas shall be set boiling, 6 And when the souls are paired. 7 and when the girl-child buried alive shall be asked: 8 for what sin she was killed, 9 and when the scrolls of (men's) deeds shall be unfolded, 10 And when the heaven shall be stripped, 11 And when Hellfire is set ablaze 12 when Paradise shall be brought nigh, 13 [on that Day] every human being will come to know what he has prepared [for himself]. 14 But nay! I swear by the stars, 15 that hide, 16 And by oath of the night when it turns back. 17 And the breath of morning 18 Most surely it is the Word of an honored messenger, 19 Owner of strength, of established dignity with the Lord of the Throne. 20 (One) to be obeyed, and trustworthy; 21 For, this fellow-man of yours is not a madman: 22 He had surely seen Him on the clear horizon. 23 And he is not avid of the Unseen. 24 Nor is this the word of a stoned satan. 25 So where are you going? 26 This is naught else than a reminder unto creation, 27 for whosoever of you would go straight, 28 but you shall not, unless Allah wills, the Lord of all the Worlds. 29
