The Sun (Al-Shams)
15 verses, revealed in Mecca after Destiny (Al-Qadr) before The Galaxies (Al-Burooj)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
I CALL TO witness the sun and his early morning splendour, 1 And the moon as she follows in his wake, 2 And by oath of the day when it reveals it 3 and by the night as it envelopes the sun; 4 by the sky and how He built it 5 and the earth and all its expanse! 6 By the soul, and That which shaped it 7 then inspired it to understand what was right and wrong for it. 8 He will indeed be successful who purifies it, 9 And he is indeed a failure who stunteth it. 10 The people of Thamud rejected (the truth) as a result of their rebelliousness 11 When among them the great wretch arose, 12 And the messenger of Allah said: It is the she-camel of Allah, so let her drink! 13 Then they belied him and they hamstrung her; wherefore their Lord overwhelmed them for their crime, and made it equal. 14 And He (Allah) feared not the consequences thereof. 15
God the Almighty always says the truth.
