Relate the news of Abraham to them. 69 When he said to his father and his people, “What do you worship?” 70 They said: we worship idols, and we are unto them ever devoted 71 He asked them, "Can the idols hear you when you pray to them 72 or do they cause you any benefit or harm?" 73 They said, 'Nay, but we found our fathers so doing.' 74 He said: Have you then considered what you have been worshipping: 75 "Ye and your fathers before you?- 76 they are all my enemies, not so the Lord of the Universe, 77 who has created me and is the One who guides me, 78 He Who feedeth me and giveth me to drink. 79 And when I am ill, it is He who cures me 80 Who will cause me to die and then will again restore me to life; 81 And Who, I ardently hope, will forgive me my sin on the Day of Judgment. 82 My Lord, give me judgment, and join me with the righteous. 83 give me a good name among later generations; 84 And place me among the inheritors of the Garden of Delight, 85 Forgive me and my father: He was surely among those who went astray. 86 and do not put me to shame on the Day when all shall be raised from the dead: 87 The day on which property will not avail, nor sons 88 Save him who bringeth unto Allah a whole heart. 89 And Paradise shall be brought forward for the godfearing, 90 and the Fire will be uncovered for those who strayed, 91 And it will be said to them: "Where are those (the false gods whom you used to set up as rivals with Allah) that you used to worship 92 other than Allah? Do they help you or even help themselves' 93 And they will be pitched into it, they and the perverse 94 and the hosts of Iblis, all together. 95 "They will say there in their mutual bickerings: 96 By Allah! we were certainly in manifest error, 97 when we made you equal with the Lord of the Worlds. 98 It was but the guilty who misled us. 99 We have no one to intercede for us before God 100 nor do we have a truly sincere friend. 101 (Alas!) If we only had a chance to return (to the world), we shall truly be among the believers! 102 Indeed in this is a sign; and most of them were not believers. 103 Surely thy Lord, He is the All-mighty, the All-compassionate. 104
