The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the sky and the night comer - 1 - Ah, what will tell thee what the Morning Star is! 2 It is the piercing star - 3 That over each soul there is a guardian. 4 So let man consider of what he was created. 5 He was created from spurting fluid, 6 That issueth from between the loins and the breast-bones. 7 Now, verily, He [who thus creates man in the first instance] is well able to bring him back [to life] 8 The Day when all the secrets (deeds, prayers, fasting, etc.) will be examined (as to their truth). 9 and he shall have no strength, no helper. 10 By the heaven which giveth the returning rain, 11 And the earth which opens up (with verdure), 12 Indeed, the Qur'an is a decisive statement, 13 And is not a matter of amusement. 14 Behold, they [who refuse to accept it] devise many a false argument [to disprove its truth]; 15 but I shall bring all their scheming to nought. 16 So grant the unbelievers a respite: let them alone for a while. 17
