Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
HAS THERE COME unto thee the tiding of the Overshadowing Event? 1 On that day (many) faces will be downcast, 2 Labouring (hard in the worldly life by worshipping others besides Allah), weary (in the Hereafter with humility and disgrace). 3 roasting at a scorching Fire 4 Given to drink of a spring fiercely boiling. 5 No food will there be for them but a bitter Dhari' 6 Which shall neither nourish nor avail against hunger. 7 (Other) faces on that day shall be happy, 8 With their endeavour well pleased. 9 In the high empyrean, 10 Where they shall hear no (word) of vanity: 11 In it there shall be a flowing spring, 12 In which are high thrones. 13 and goblets set forth 14 And arranged carpets. 15 and carpets outspread. 16 Will they not regard the camels, how they are created? 17 And at the heaven, how it is raised? 18 how the mountains are set firm, 19 And the earth – how it has been spread out? 20 Therefore remind, you are only a Reminder. 21 you are not their keeper. 22 Except whoever turns away and disbelieves – 23 Allah will punish him with a mighty Punishment, 24 For to Us will be their return; 25 and then it is for Us to call them to account. 26
