So, when the envoys came to the folk of Lot, 61 he said: "Surely you are an unknown folk." 62 They said: Nay, we have come to you with that about which they disputed. 63 and we are bringing thee the certainty [of its fulfilment]: for, behold, we are speaking the truth indeed. 64 "So leave with your family late in the night, yourself remaining in the rear, and let none turn back to look, and go where you will be commanded." 65 And We revealed to him this decree, that the roots of these shall be cut off in the morning. 66 In the meantime the people of the city came to Lot rejoicing. 67 and he told them, "These are my guests, so do not disgrace me. 68 and fear God, and do not degrade me.' 69 They answered: "Have we not forbidden thee [to offer protection] to any kind of people?" 70 Lot exclaimed in exasperation: "If you are bent on doing something, then here are my daughters." 71 Verily, by your life (O Muhammad SAW), in their wild intoxication, they were wandering blindly. 72 So As-Saihah (torment - awful cry, etc.) overtook them at the time of sunrise; 73 We turned the town upside down and rained upon them stones of clay. 74 There are certainly signs in that for those who can learn a lesson -- 75 That town lies on a road which still exists. 76 Surely! Therein is indeed a sign for the believers. 77 And the dwellers of the wood surely were wrong-doers. 78 We afflicted them with punishment. Both people had clear (divine) authority among them. 79
