And the chiefs of his people who disbelieved and called the meeting of the hereafter a lie, and whom We had given plenty to enjoy in this world's life, said: This is nothing but a mortal like yourselves, eating of what you eat from and drinking of what you drink. 33 If you obey a mortal like yourselves, then you will be losers. 34 Does he promise you that after you die and become dust and bones you will be brought back to life again? 35 ۞ Far, far is that which you are threatened with. 36 There is naught but our life of the world; we die and we live, and we shall not be raised (again). 37 He is naught but a man who has forged against God a lie, and we will not believe him.' 38 (The prophet) said: "O my Lord! help me: for that they accuse me of falsehood." 39 Answered (the Lord): "They shall wake up repenting soon." 40 So the true Scream seized them – We therefore made them like rotten hay; so away with the unjust people! 41 Thereafter, after them, We produced other generations; 42 no nation outstrips its term, nor do they put it back. 43 Thereafter We sent Our apostles, successively. So oft as there came unto a community their apostle, they belied him, so We made them follow one another, and We made them bywords; so away with a people who believe not! 44 Then We sent Moses and his brother Aaron with Our miracles and clear authority 45 to Pharaoh and to his chiefs, but they behaved superciliously and they were haughty. 46 They said, "Should we believe in two mere mortals who are like ourselves and whose people are our slaves?" 47 So they belied them, and they were among the destroyed. 48 We gave Moses the Book so that they might be guided. 49 and We made Mary's son, and his mother, to be a sign, and gave them refuge upon a height, where was a hollow and a spring: 50
