The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
I swear by the Mountain, 1 By the book inscribed. 2 on unrolled parchment, 3 And the House frequented, 4 The roof raised high, 5 And by the Ocean filled with Swell;- 6 The punishment of your Lord is certain to come. 7 There is none that can avert it; 8 [It will come to pass] on the Day when the skies will be convulsed in [a great] convulsion, 9 And the mountains will pass on, departing - 10 Then woe that Day to the beliers; 11 Those who sport entering into vain discourses. 12 on that Day they shall be ruthlessly thrust into the Fire of Hell. 13 "This:, it will be said, "Is the Fire,- which ye were wont to deny! 14 Is this magic or do you not see? 15 Enter into it, then bear (it) patiently, or do not bear (it) patiently, it is the same to you; you shall be requited only (for) what you did. 16 Verily, the Muttaqun (pious - see V. 2:2) will be in Gardens (Paradise), and Delight. 17 Rejoicing at what their Lord has given them; and their Lord will preserve them from the torment of Hell. 18 “Eat and drink with pleasure, a reward for what you used to do.” 19 The God-fearing shall be reclining on couches facing each other, and We shall wed them to maidens with large, beautiful eyes. 20 And as for those who have attained to faith and whose offspring will have followed them in faith, We shall unite them with their offspring; and We shall not let aught of their deeds go to waste: [but] every human being will be held in pledge for whatever he has earned. 21 We shall provide them in abundance with all kinds of fruit and meat, whatever they may desire. 22 There they shall pass from hand to hand a (wine) cup, free from any Laghw (dirty, false, evil vague talk between them), and free from sin (because it will be legal for them to drink). 23 ۞ And round them shall go boys of theirs as if they were hidden pearls. 24 They will ask each other questions, 25 Saying: Surely we feared before on account of our families: 26 "But Allah has been gracious to us, and has saved us from the torment of the Fire. 27 Before, we were supplicating to Him. He is the Giving, the Most Merciful' 28
