The Stars (Al-Najm)
62 verses, revealed in Mecca after Absoluteness (Al-Ikhlaas) before He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the Star when it plunges, 1 That your companion is not confused, nor has he gone astray, 2 Nor does he speak out of desire. 3 It is naught save an inspiration that is inspired, 4 taught him by one terrible in power, 5 [an angel] endowed with surpassing power, who in time manifested himself in his true shape and nature, 6 being on the higher horizon, 7 Then he drew near, then he bowed 8 until he was two bow-lengths away or even closer 9 So Allah divinely revealed to His bondman, whatever He divinely revealed. 10 The heart lied not in that which he saw. 11 Will ye then dispute with him concerning what he seeth? 12 And verily he saw him yet another time 13 At the farthest lote-tree; 14 Near it is the Garden of Abode. 15 When the lote-tree was being enveloped, by whatever around it. 16 [And withal,] the eye did not waver, nor yet did it stray: 17 Certainly he saw of the greatest signs of his Lord. 18 Have ye then considered Al-Lat and AL-'uzza: 19 and about the third deity, al-Manat? 20 "What! For you the males and for Him the females?" 21 That is indeed an unjust division. 22 They are naught but names yourselves have named, and your fathers; God has sent down no authority touching them. They follow only surmise, and what the souls desire; and yet guidance has come to them from their Lord. 23 Can the human being have whatever he wishes? 24 And to God belongs the First and the Last. 25

قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
