The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the great event comes to pass, 1 – and then there will be no one to deny its occurrence – 2 The event will be abasing some, and exalting some. 3 When the earth is violently shaken 4 and the mountains will crumble 5 and become a dust, scattered, 6 [on that Day] you shall be divided into three groups. 7 The people of the right hand - those whose books of records will be placed in their right hands. How happy they will be! 8 And those on the left hand; how miserable shall those on the left hand be! 9 And the foremost are the foremost, 10 It is they who are the close ones. 11 In the Gardens of Pleasure, 12 A numerous company from among the first, 13 And a few of those (foremost) will be from the later time (generations). 14 They will recline on jewelled couches 15 they shall recline, facing each other, 16 There will circulate among them young boys made eternal 17 with goblets, jugs and cups of crystal clear wine 18 They shall not be affected with headache thereby, nor shall they get exhausted, 19 And fruit of what they select 20 And the meat of fowl, from whatever they desire. 21 And [with them will be their] companions pure, most beautiful of eye, 22 Like unto hidden pearls, 23 shall be their recompense for their deeds. 24 They will not hear any unnecessary or sinful talk 25 except each other's greetings of, "Peace be with you". 26 NOW AS FOR those who have attained to righteousness - what of those who have attained to righteousness? 27 (will be) among thornless Lote trees. 28 And banana-trees (with fruits), one above another. 29 and spreading shade 30 and gushing water, 31 And plenty of fruits. 32 Neither intercepted nor forbidden, 33 And raised couches. 34 Indeed, We have produced the women of Paradise in a [new] creation 35 And made them virgins. 36 loving companions, matching in age, 37 like of age for the Companions of the Right. 38
