We have not created the heavens and earth, and what between them is, for vanity; such is the thought of the unbelievers, wherefore woe unto the unbelievers because of the Fire! 27 Or shall We make those who believe and do righteous deeds as the workers of corruption in the earth, or shall We make the godfearing as the transgressors? 28 This is a Book which We have sent down upon you, a blessed Book, for them to ponder upon its verses, and for men of intellect to accept advice. 29 We granted Solomon to David, a blessed servant of Ours and certainly the most repentant person. 30 When his dressage steeds were presented to him in the evening, 31 he said, 'Lo, I have loved the love of good things better than the remembrance of my Lord, until the sun was bidden behind the veil. 32 Then he said "Bring them (horses) back to me." Then he began to pass his hand over their legs and their necks (till the end of the display). 33 But [ere this,] indeed, We had tried Solomon by placing upon his throne a [lifeless] body; and thereupon he turned [towards Us; and] 34 He said: My Lord! do Thou forgive me and grant me a kingdom which is not fit for (being inherited by) anyone after me; 35 So We subjected the wind to him, so that it ran softly by his command wherever he wished; 36 And also the Shayatin (devils) from the jinns (including) every kind of builder and diver, 37 And other demons bound in chains. 38 “This is Our bestowal. So give or withhold as you wish without account.” 39 And lo! he hath favour with Us, and a happy journey's end. 40
