Has the story reached thee, of the honoured guests of Abraham? 24 Behold, they entered his presence, and said: "Peace!" He said, "Peace!" (and thought, "These seem) unusual people." 25 Then he turned aside to his family secretly and brought a fat (roasted) calf, 26 and placed it before them, saying, "Will you not eat?" 27 He began to feel afraid. They said, "Do not be afraid," and then gave him the glad news of the birth of a knowledgeable son. 28 Then his wife came up in great grief, and she struck her face and said: An old barren woman! 29 They said, 'So says thy Lord; He is the All-wise, the All-knowing.' 30 ۞ [Abraham] said, "Then what is your business [here], O messengers?" 31 They said, 'We have been sent to a people of sinners, 32 to let loose upon them stone-hard blows of chastisement, 33 marked with thy Lord for the prodigal. 34 So We brought out whoever was in the cities of the believers. 35 But We did not find therein save a (single) house of those who submitted (the Muslims). 36 And We left therein a sign for those who fear the painful punishment. 37 And in Musa also was a lesson, when We sent him unto Fir'awn with authority manifest. 38 But (Pharaoh) turned back with his Chiefs, and said, "A sorcerer, or one possessed!" 39 We seized him and his army and threw them into the sea. He himself was to be blamed. 40 And in 'A-ad also was a lesson, when We sent against them the barren wind. 41 which turned everything it approached into dust. 42 And in Thamud, when it was said to them, "Enjoy yourselves for a time." 43 But they disobeyed the command of their Lord; so they were destroyed by a thunderbolt, and they could only gape, 44 They were unable to stand up, nor were they helped. 45 And [We destroyed] the people of Noah before; indeed, they were a people defiantly disobedient. 46
