The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ Of what ask they? 1 About the Great News 2 That over which they are in disagreement. 3 No indeed; they shall soon know! 4 And once again: Nay, but in time they will come to understand! 5 Have We not made the earth as a cradle 6 And the mountains as stakes? 7 And We have created you in pairs. 8 And made your sleep for rest, 9 And made the night a cover. 10 And made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven strong (heavens), 12 (the sun) as a shining torch 13 and have sent down out of the rainclouds water cascading 14 that We may bring forth thereby grain and plants, 15 And gardens dense and luxuriant. 16 Surely, the Day of Judgement has an appointed time. 17 the day the Trumpet is blown, and you shall come in troops, 18 And the heaven shall be opened so that it shall be all openings, 19 and the mountains are set in motion, and become a vapour. 20 Truly Hell is as a place of ambush, 21 The rebels' abode, 22 They will dwell therein for ages. 23 They will not taste therein cool or any drink. 24 save boiling water and wash of the wounds; 25 An exact recompense (according to their evil crimes). 26 For that they used not to fear any account (for their deeds), 27 But they (impudently) treated Our Signs as false. 28 And everything We have recorded in a book. 29 "So taste [the penalty], and never will We increase you except in torment." 30
