The Town (Al-Balad)

20 verses, revealed in Mecca after Q (Qaaf) before The Comet (Al-Taareq)

In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful

۞ NAY! I call to witness this land 1 and thou art a lodger in this land; 2 And by oath of your forefather Ibrahim, and by you – his illustrious son! 3 Assuredly We have created man in trouble. 4 What, does he think none has power over him, 5 He says, "I have spent wealth in abundance." 6 Does he think that none has observed him? 7 Have We not given him two eyes, 8 And a tongue, and a pair of lips?- 9 And shown him the two highways? 10 But he would not attempt the uphill road, 11 Ah, what will convey unto thee what the Ascent is! - 12 The freeing of a slave, 13 Or the giving of food in a day of hunger 14 of an orphan near of kin, 15 or a needy man in misery; 16 And to be of those who believe and exhort one another to perseverance and exhort one another to pity. 17 These are the people of the right. 18 And those who denied Our signs, are the people of the left. 19 Fire will be an awning over them. 20

Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
