And when the envoys came to the family of Lot, 61 He said: verily ye are a people stranger. 62 They answered: "Nay, but we have come unto thee with [the announcement of] something that they [who are given to evil] have always been wont to call in question, 63 And we have brought unto thee the truth, and verily we say sooth. 64 So set out thou with thy house hold in a portion of the night, and follow thou their backs, and let not one of you look back, and pass whither ye are commanded. 65 And We decreed for him that commandment, that the last remnant of those should be cut off in the morning. 66 The people of the city came to him rejoicing. 67 He said, 'These are my guests; put me not to shame, 68 And keep your duty to Allah, and shame me not! 69 They said: "Did we not forbid thee (to speak) for all and sundry?" 70 [Lot] said: "[Take instead] these daughters of mine, if you must do [whatever you intend to do]!" 71 By your life, (O Prophet), they went about blindly stumbling in their intoxication. 72 So the shriek seized them at sunrise. 73 And We turned (the cities) upside down, and rained down on them brimstones hard as baked clay. 74 Surely, in that there are signs for those who contemplate. 75 Indeed, it is on a way which still exists. 76 Most surely there is a sign in this for the believers. 77 Since the People of the Forest were unjust, 78 So We took vengeance on them. And verily both are on a high-road open. 79
