The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
By the mount. 1 and by the Book in lines 2 On an open record. 3 And [by] the frequented House 4 And the lofty roof. 5 And [by] the sea filled [with fire], 6 Most surely the punishment of your Lord will come to pass; 7 No one can avert it. 8 On the Day whereon the heaven will shake with an awful shaking. 9 and the mountains will move with [an awesome] movement. 10 Then woe, that Day, to the deniers, 11 Who, ignoring the Reality, engage in pleasantries. 12 on the Day when they shall be thrust into the fire with [an irresistible] thrust, [and will be told:] 13 (And it is said unto them): This is the Fire which ye were wont to deny. 14 Is it magic then or do you not see? 15 Go now and burn in it. It is all the same whether you bear it patiently or do not bear it with patience. You are only being recompensed for your deeds.” 16 Verily, the Muttaqun (pious - see V. 2:2) will be in Gardens (Paradise), and Delight. 17 Rejoicing at what their Lord has given them; and their Lord will preserve them from the torment of Hell. 18 (To them will be said:) "Eat and drink ye, with profit and health, because of your (good) deeds." 19 Reclining on thrones set in lines, and We will unite them to large-eyed beautiful ones. 20 And those who believed, and whose progeny also followed them in their faith, will be united with their offspring. We will not deprive them of their labour in the least. Every man is bound to what he does. 21 We shall provide them in abundance with such fruit and meat as they desire. 22 There, they shall pass from hand to hand a cup which does not lead to any idle talk or sin. 23 ۞ Round about them will serve, (devoted) to them, young male servants (handsome) as Pearls well-guarded. 24 They will converse with one another, putting questions to each other, 25 They say, 'We were before among our people, ever going in fear, 26 Then Allah graced us with His favour and saved us from the chastisement of the scorching wind. 27 Indeed, we used to supplicate Him before. Indeed, it is He who is the Beneficent, the Merciful." 28
