The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the inevitable event comes, 1 there is no denying its coming 2 some shall be abased and others exalted. 3 This will happen when the earth is shaken, shaken 4 and the mountains crumbled, 5 so that they become as scattered dust 6 And ye will be three kinds: 7 The People on the Right: and how fortunate will be the People on the Right! 8 And the Companions of the Left Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Left Hand? 9 And those foremost [(in Islamic Faith of Monotheism and in performing righteous deeds) in the life of this world on the very first call for to embrace Islam,] will be foremost (in Paradise). 10 those are they brought near (to their Lord) 11 In Gardens of Delight. 12 A large group from the earlier generations. 13 And a few from those of later times. 14 upon close-wrought couches 15 Reclining face to face. 16 There shall go round unto them youths ever-young. 17 with goblets, and ewers, and a cup from a spring 18 a drink by which their minds will not be clouded nor will it cause drunkenness; 19 And fruit that they prefer 20 Bird meats that they relish, 21 And (there will be) Companions with beautiful, big, and lustrous eyes,- 22 like hidden pearls, 23 A reward for what they used to do. 24 They shall not hear therein vain or sinful discourse, 25 but only the saying: 'Peace, Peace' 26 As for those of the right hand -- how (happy) those of the right hand -- 27 They shall be in the midst of thornless lote trees, 28 And clustered plantains, 29 and spreading shade 30 and outpoured waters, 31 and an abundance of fruits, 32 Whose season is not limited, nor (supply) forbidden, 33 And couches raised up. 34 and the noble maidens that We have created 35 and made them virgins, 36 full of love, well-matched 37 For those on the right hand; 38
