The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
When the sun is folded up, 1 when the stars shall be thrown down, 2 And when the hills are moved, 3 And when milch camels roam abandoned. 4 The wild beasts stampede on the run, 5 when the seas are set boiling, 6 And when souls are reunited, 7 And when the girl buried alive shall be asked: 8 for what offence was she killed? 9 when the records of men's deeds are laid open, 10 And when the heaven shall be stripped, 11 And when Hell-fire shall be kindled to fierce ablaze. 12 and Paradise brought nigh: 13 [then] each soul shall know what it has put forward. 14 But nay! I swear by the stars, 15 Go straight, or hide; 16 and sit during the day, or by the darkening night 17 and the first breath of morning. 18 Verily, this is the Word (this Quran brought by) a most honourable messenger [Jibrael (Gabriel), from Allah to the Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him)]. 19 [Who is] possessed of power and with the Owner of the Throne, secure [in position], 20 [the word] of one to be heeded, and worthy of trust! 21 And (O people!) your companion is not one possessed; 22 And indeed he (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) saw him [Jibrael (Gabriel)] in the clear horizon (towards the east). 23 And Muhammad is not a withholder of [knowledge of] the unseen. 24 And it (the Quran) is not the word of the outcast Shaitan (Satan). 25 When whither go ye? 26 This is a reminder for all the peoples of the world, 27 Unto whomsoever of you willeth to walk straight. 28 But you cannot will it unless God, the Lord of the Universe, so wills it [to show you that way]. 29
