Ad gave the lie to the apostles. 123 When their brother Hud said to them, "Will you not fear Allah? 124 Verily I am unto you an apostle trusted. 125 fear God, then, and obey me. 126 I do not ask for any payment for my preaching. I shall receive my reward from the Lord of the Universe. 127 "Do you build useless monuments on every mountain 128 Erect palaces (thinking) that you will live for ever, 129 When you assault, you assault like tyrants. 130 So guard against (the punishment of) Allah and obey me 131 Keep your duty toward Him Who hath aided you with (the good things) that ye know, 132 amply provided you with flocks, and children, 133 And gardens and watersprings. 134 indeed, I fear for you the torment of an awful day." 135 They said: It is the same to us whether you admonish or are not one of the admonishers 136 That is nothing but a habit of the ancients, 137 “And we will not be punished.” 138 In this there is evidence (of the Truth), yet most of them do not have any faith. 139 And most surely your Lord is the Mighty, the Merciful. 140
