These wait for but one Shout, there will be no second thereto. 15 They say: "Our Lord! Hasten on for us our fate before the Day of Reckoning." 16 Be patient over what they say and remember Our servant, David, the possessor of strength; indeed, he was one who repeatedly turned back [to Allah]. 17 We subjected the mountains to exalt (Me) with him in the evening and at sunrise, 18 and the birds, too, in their flocks, and turn again and again to celebrating Allah's glory. 19 We strengthened his kingdom, giving him wisdom and the power of sound Judgment. 20 ۞ Have you heard of the litigants who jumped over the wall into his chamber? 21 When they entered the presence of David, and he was terrified of them, they said: "Fear not: we are two disputants, one of whom has wronged the other: Decide now between us with truth, and treat us not with injustice, but guide us to the even Path.. 22 "Behold, this is my brother: he has ninety-nine ewes, whereas I have [only] one ewe - and yet he said, 'Make her over to me,' and forcibly prevailed against me in this [our] dispute." 23 (David) said: "He has undoubtedly wronged thee in demanding thy (single) ewe to be added to his (flock of) ewes: truly many are the partners (in business) who wrong each other: Not so do those who believe and work deeds of righteousness, and how few are they?"... and David gathered that We had tried him: he asked forgiveness of his Lord, fell down, bowing (in prostration), and turned (to Allah in repentance). ۩ 24 Accordingly We forgave him that, and he has a near place in Our presence and a fair resort. 25 We said, "David, We have given you mastery over the land. Judge fairly between people. Do not follow your desires, lest they divert you from God's path: those who wander from His path will have a severe punishment, because they ignore the Day of Reckoning." 26
