Whatever misfortune befalls you is of your own doing, God forgives much, 30 And you cannot escape from Allah (i.e. His Punishment) in the earth, and besides Allah you have neither any Wali (guardian or a protector) nor any helper. 31 And among His Signs are the ships, smooth-running through the ocean, (tall) as mountains. 32 if He so wills, He stills the wind, and then they lie motionless on the sea's surface - [and] herein, behold, there are messages indeed for all who are wholly patient in adversity and deeply grateful [to God]; 33 Or He may destroy them (by drowning) because of that which their (people) have earned. And He pardons much. 34 Those who dispute Our verses may know that they have no asylum. 35 Whatsoever you have been given is only this life's merchandise; but what is with God is better and more lasting for those who believe and place their trust in their Lord, 36 And those who shun the worst of sins and indecencies and, when they are wroth, forgive, 37 And those who obeyed the command of their Lord and kept the prayer established; and whose affairs are with mutual consultation; and who spend in Our cause from what We have bestowed upon them. 38 And those who take revenge when rebellion harms them. 39 But [remember that an attempt at] requiting evil may, too, become an evil: hence, whoever pardons [his foe] and makes peace, his reward rests with God - for, verily, He does not love evildoers. 40 And whosoever vindicateth himself after wrong done to him; these! against them there is no way of blame. 41 Blame lies on those who oppress, and terrorise the land unjustly. For them there is painful punishment. 42 And whoever is patient and forgives - indeed, that is of the matters [requiring] determination. 43
