Wherefore admonish thou! thou art not, by the grace of thy Lord, a soothsayer or a madman. 29 If they say, "He is but a poet; we are waiting for some misfortune to befall him," 30 say [to them], "Wait then: I too am waiting along with you!" -- 31 is it their minds that prompt them [to say] this, or are they merely insolent people? 32 Or do they say: "He himself has composed this [message]"? Nay, but they are not willing to believe! 33 Let them bring a discourse like thereunto, if they say sooth. 34 Were they created of nothing, or were they themselves the creators? 35 Or, did they create the heavens and the earth? No, their belief is not certain! 36 [How could they?] Are thy Sustainer's treasures with them? Or are they in charge [of destiny]? 37 Or have they any stairway (unto heaven) by means of which they overhear (decrees). Then let their listener produce some warrant manifest! 38 What! The daughters for Him, and the sons for you? 39 Or do you ask them for a reward, so that they are over-burdened by debt? 40 Is with them the Unseen, and they write it down! 41 Or, do they desire to outwit? The unbelievers are the outwitted. 42 Is theirs a god beside Allah? Hallowed be Allah from that which they associate! 43 Even if they were to see a part of the heavens falling down upon them, they would say, "It is only dense cloud". 44 So leave them alone until they encounter that Day of theirs, wherein they shall (perforce) swoon (with terror),- 45 The day on which their struggle shall not avail them aught, nor shall they be helped. 46 And verily, for those who do wrong, there is another punishment besides this: But most of them understand not. 47 And be patient under the Judgement of your Lord, surely, you are before Our Eyes. And exalt with the praise of your Lord when you arise, 48 And glorify Him in the night and when the stars begin to wane. 49
