Nay, and by the moon, 32 And [by] the night when it departs 33 And the daybreak when it shines; 34 Indeed, the Fire is of the greatest [afflictions] 35 as a warner to mortals. 36 alike to every one of you, who want to go forward or hang back. 37 Every soul will be in captivity for its deeds 38 save those who shall have attained to righteousness: 39 in Gardens they will question 40 And (ask) of the Sinners: 41 “What drove you to Hell?” 42 They will say: "We were not of those who prayed; 43 and we did not feed the needy. 44 and we indulged in vain talk with those who indulged in vain talk, 45 “And used to deny the Day of Justice.” 46 until the Inevitable End [death] overtook us." 47 Then there will not profit them intercesion of the interceders. 48 What is the matter with them that they turn away from this Reminder, 49 As if they were affrighted asses, 50 fleeing from a lion? 51 Aye! every one of them desireth that: he should be vouchsafed scrolls expanded. 52 By no means! But they fear not the Hereafter, 53 Nay, verily, this (Quran) is an admonition, 54 Let him who will take heed: 55 But they [who do not believe in the life to come] will not take it to heart unless God so wills: [for] He is the Fount of all God-consciousness, and the Fount of all forgiveness. 56
