The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ OF WHAT ARE they asking one another? 1 Concerning the Great News, 2 Regarding which they hold different views. 3 Verily, they shall soon (come to) know! 4 Nay, again, but they will come to know! 5 Did We not make the earth a bed? 6 And the mountains as stakes? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 made sleep for you to rest, 9 And made the night a cover. 10 and made the day [a symbol of] life. 11 And We have built above you seven strong (heavens), 12 And have made (therein) a shinning lamp (sun). 13 and sent down heavy rains from the clouds 14 That We may produce therewith corn and vegetations, 15 And gardens of entwined growth. 16 Surely the Day of Judgement has an appointed time; 17 the Day when the trumpet [of resurrection] is sounded and you all come forward in multitudes; 18 The heavens will have openings like doors. 19 And the mountains shall be moved away from their places and they will be as if they were a mirage. 20 [On that Day,] verily, hell will lie in wait [for those who deny the truth] 21 For the exorbitant a receptacle. 22 They will abide therein for ages. 23 They will not feel cold nor taste any drink 24 save boiling water and wash of the wounds; 25 for a suitable recompense. 26 They did not expect such a Judgment 27 and persistently rejected Our revelations. 28 However, We have recorded everything in a book. 29 Taste therefore. We shall not increase you in aught but torment. 30
