The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When heaven is rent asunder 1 and gives ear to its Lord, and is fitly disposed; 2 when the earth flattens out, 3 And has cast out all that was in it and became empty, 4 And it hearkeneth to its Lord, and is duteous. 5 Human being, you strive hard to get closer to your Lord, and so you will certainly receive the recompense (of your deeds). 6 Then as for him who is given his book in his right hand, 7 he shall surely receive an easy reckoning 8 And will return to his people full of joy. 9 but as for him whose record shall be given to him from behind his back, 10 He surely will invoke destruction 11 but he will enter the blazing flame. 12 Indeed he used to rejoice in his home. 13 He assumed that he does not have to return. 14 But he will indeed! His Lord was ever watching him. 15 So indeed I call to witness the evening twilight, 16 And by the night and that which it driveth together, 17 And by the moon when it is at the full, 18 That you will climb from stage to stage. 19 Then what ails them, that they believe not, 20 And when the Qur'an is recited to them do not bow in adoration? ۩ 21 In fact, they reject the Quran, 22 And Allah knows best what they gather (of good and bad deeds), 23 So give them tidings of a painful punishment, 24 But for those who believe and do good works; for them there shall be a never-ending reward. 25
