The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the night when it covers 1 and by the day when it unveils. 2 And Him Who hath created male and female, 3 Your striving is most surely (directed to) various (ends). 4 As for one who gives [to others] and fears [God], 5 And accepts the best, 6 We shall ease the way of fortune for him. 7 But for those who are niggardly, horde their wealth, 8 and cries lies to the reward most fair, 9 We will indeed make smooth for him the path to Misery; 10 Nor will his wealth profit him when he falls headlong (into the Pit). 11 Surely it is for Us to show the Right Way, 12 and, behold, Ours is [the dominion over] the life to come as well as [over] this earlier part [of your life]: 13 Therefor have I warned you of the flaming Fire 14 None shall roast therein but the most wretched, 15 who belied and turned away, 16 But the righteous one will avoid it - 17 Those who spend their wealth for increase in self-purification, 18 And no one has done a favour to him, for which he should be compensated. 19 Other than seeking the glory of his Lord, most high, 20 and the reward (of their Lord) will certainly make them happy. 21
God the Almighty always says the truth.
