The Moon (Al-Qamar)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
The Hour is drawing near, and the moon is split (in two). 1 And if they see a miracle, they turn away and say, "Passing magic." 2 And they belied, and they followed their lusts; and every affair cometh to a final goal. 3 And indeed there has come to them news (in this Quran) wherein there is (enough warning) to check (them from evil), 4 Extensive wisdom - but warning does not avail [them]. 5 (Muhammad), leave them alone. On the day when they will be called to a terrible punishment, 6 They will come out from the graves with eyes lowered, as if they were spread locusts. 7 Hastening toward the summoner; the disbelievers say: This is a hard day. 8 ۞ The people of Noah denied [the truth] before them. They belied Our messenger saying, "He is mad!" He was rebuffed, 9 So he cried unto his Lord, saying: I am vanquished, so give help. 10 So We opened the gates of the cloud with water pouring 11 And caused the earth to burst with springs, and the waters met for a matter already predestined. 12 But We bore him on an (Ark) made of broad planks and caulked with palm-fibre: 13 Sailing, before Our eyes, a reward for him who was denied. 14 And certainly We left it as a sign, but is there anyone who 15 How then were My punishment and My warnings! 16 And We have indeed made the Quran easy to understand and remember, then is there any that will remember (or receive admonition)? 17 TO THE TRUTH gave the lie [the tribe of] Ad: and how severe was the suffering which I inflicted when My warnings were disregarded! 18 Verily, We sent against them a furious wind of harsh voice on a day of evil omen and continuous calamity. 19 Extracting the people as if they were trunks of palm trees uprooted. 20 How [dreadful] was My punishment and My warning! 21 And We have indeed made the Qur’an easy to memorise, so is there one who would remember? 22
