The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ What are they asking each other about? 1 About the great event, 2 concerning which they have disputes. 3 No indeed; they shall soon know! 4 Again, no indeed; they shall soon know! 5 Have We not made the earth a resting place? 6 and the mountains as pegs (to anchor the earth)? 7 And We created you in pairs 8 And have made your sleep as a thing for rest. 9 and made the night [its] cloak 10 and We appointed day for a livelihood. 11 And constructed above you seven strong [heavens] 12 and placed in them a blazing lamp 13 And We send down from the clouds water pouring forth abundantly, 14 In order to produce grain and plants with it. 15 And orchards full of trees and interlacing boughs. 16 Surely, the Day of Judgement has an appointed time. 17 On that day the trumpet will be sounded and you will come (to Us) in huge groups. 18 and when the skies are opened and become [as wide-flung] gates; 19 And the mountains are removed and will be [but] a mirage. 20 Behold, Gehenna has become an ambush, 21 For the exorbitant a receptacle. 22 They will abide therein for ages. 23 Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink. 24 except boiling water and pus 25 , A fitting reward. 26 For lo! they looked not for a reckoning; 27 And rejected Our signs as lies. 28 However, We have recorded everything in a book. 29 (They will be told), "Suffer, We shall only increase the torment for you". 30
