Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the winds that scatter the dust, 1 And those who bear the load (of rain), 2 Then those (ships) that glide easily, 3 and the partitioners, 4 surely that you are promised is true, 5 and, verily, judgment is bound to come! 6 By the heaven with its numerous forms: 7 You are surely caught in contradictions., 8 perverted in his views thereon is he who would deceive himself! 9 Destroyed are the falsifiers 10 and who wander in the abyss of confusion. 11 They ask, "When will be the Day of Judgment and Justice?" 12 (It will be) a Day when they will be tried (i.e. burnt) over the Fire! 13 Taste your persecution! this is what you would hasten on. 14 Lo! those who keep from evil will dwell amid gardens and watersprings, 15 Taking that which their Lord giveth them; for lo! aforetime they were doers of good; 16 They used to sleep only a little during the night. 17 and would ask for forgiveness at dawn, 18 And in their wealth the beggar and the outcast had due share. 19 And in the earth are signs for those who are certain. 20 As also in your own selves: Will ye not then see? 21 And in the heaven is your sustenance and what you are threatened with. 22 And by the Lord of the heavens and the earth! it is most surely the truth, just as you do speak. 23
