The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ The Merciful One 1 Has taught the Qur’an to His beloved Prophet (Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him). 2 He created man, 3 and He taught him speech. 4 The sun and the moon run on their fixed courses (exactly) calculated with measured out stages for each (for reckoning, etc.). 5 And the plants and the trees prostrate (for Him). 6 And the heaven! He hath elevated it, and He hath set the balance. 7 (Transgress not in the Balance, 8 And keep up the balance with equity and do not make the measure deficient. 9 He spread out the earth for the people. 10 Therein are fruits, date-palms producing sheathed fruit-stalks (enclosing dates). 11 And the grain with (its) husk and fragrance. 12 Which of the bounties of your Lord will you twain – you men and jinn – then deny? 13 He has created man, from dry ringing clay, like the potter"s, 14 And He created the jinn of a flame of fire. 15 (Jinn and mankind) - which of the favors of your Lord do you deny? 16 (He is) Lord of the two Easts and Lord of the two Wests: 17 Which favors of your Lord will you both belie? 18 He has let loosed the two seas (the salt water and the sweet) meeting together. 19 but has created a barrier between them so that they will not merge totally. 20 How many favours of your Lord will then both of you deny? -- 21 Out of them both come out pearl and coral. 22 Which then of the bounties of your Lord will you deny? 23 And His are the Ships sailing smoothly through the seas, lofty as mountains: 24 Which of your Lord's wonders would you deny? 25
