The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ When the Event (the resurrection) comes 1 There is, at its occurrence, no denial. 2 (it will) abase (some) and exalt (others). 3 When the earth is shaken with convulsion 4 And the mountains will be crushed, blown to bits. 5 becoming scattered dust, 6 You shall then become three groups. 7 Those on the Right -- how blessed are those on the Right! 8 And there shall be such as will have lost themselves in evil: oh, how [unhappy] will be they who have lost themselves in evil! 9 And the foremost are the foremost, 10 Those! they shall be the brought nigh, 11 They are in Gardens of peace. 12 A throng of the ancients, 13 And a few of the later peoples, 14 (They will be) on Thrones encrusted (with gold and precious stones), 15 Reclining therein face to face. 16 immortal youths shall go about them 17 With cups, and jugs, and a glass from the flowing wine, 18 a drink by which their minds will not be clouded nor will it cause drunkenness; 19 and with fruit of any kind that they may choose, 20 And the meat of fowl, from whatever they desire. 21 And there will be fair ones large eyed. 22 Like pearls safely hidden. 23 as reward for their deeds. 24 No Laghw (dirty, false, evil vain talk) will they hear therein, nor any sinful speech (like backbiting, etc.). 25 Nought but the saying: peace! peace! 26 And those on the right hand; what of those on the right hand? 27 (will be) among thornless Lote trees. 28 And [banana] trees layered [with fruit] 29 and extended shade, 30 and waters gushing, 31 And fruit in abundance. 32 never-ending and unrestricted, 33 on raised couches. 34 Lo! We have created them a (new) creation 35 And made them virginal, 36 Loving, of equal age. 37 For those on the Right Hand. 38
