Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ The Reality! 1 How tremendous is the true event! 2 And what could make thee conceive what that laying-bare of the truth will be? 3 The tribes of Thamud and A’ad denied the event of great dismay. (The Day of Resurrection) 4 As for Thamud, they were destroyed by the lightning. 5 and as for the 'Ad - they were destroyed by a storm wind furiously raging, 6 which continued to strike them for seven nights and eight days so that eventually you could see the people lying dead like the hollow trunks of uprooted palm-trees. 7 Do you see any vestige left of them now? 8 And Pharaoh, and those before him, and the Cities Overthrown, committed habitual Sin. 9 They did not follow the Messenger of their Lord, and so He seized them with a severe grip. 10 And when the waters rose (high) We carried you in the sailing (Ark), 11 In order to make it a warning for you, and that the ear retentive may preserve it. 12 And when the trumpet shall sound one blast 13 And the earth and the mountains are lifted and leveled with one blow - 14 Then on that Day shall happen the Event. 15 And the sky will be rent asunder, for on that Day it will be so frail. 16 and the angels will stand on the sides, with eight of them bearing aloft the Throne of your Lord on that Day. 17 On that Day you shall be exposed, and no secret of yours will remain hidden. 18 On that Day, he whose Record is given to him in his right hand will say: “Lo! Read my Record! 19 I was sure that the record of my deeds would be shown to me". 20 So he shall be in a life of pleasure, 21 In a Garden on high, 22 with fruits within easy reach. 23 Eat and drink at ease for that which you have sent on before you in days past! 24 But he who is given his record in his left hand will say, "If only I had never been given my Record 25 and not known my reckoning! 26 Oh! Would that the death that came to me in the world had made an end of me! 27 Of no use was even my wealth. 28 “All my power has vanished.” 29 Lay hold of him and chain him; 30 Then into Hellfire drive him. 31 and then thrust him into a chain [of other sinners like him - a chain] the length whereof is seventy cubits: 32 Lo! He used not to believe in Allah the Tremendous, 33 And urged not on the feeding of Al-Miskin (the poor), 34 therefore he today has not here one loyal friend, 35 “Nor any food except the pus discharged from the people of hell.” 36 which only the sinners eat". 37
