The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
Cloaked one, 1 Arise, and warn. 2 Thy Lord magnify 3 and purify your clothing, 4 And uncleanliness avoid 5 Give not, thinking to gain greater 6 And for the sake of your Lord, be patient. 7 Finally, when the Trumpet is sounded, 8 That will be- that Day - a Day of Distress,- 9 Dolorous for the unbelievers. 10 Leave Me with him whom I created alone, 11 and designated for him ample wealth, 12 And sons to be by his side!- 13 and for whom I have smoothed the way (to power and riches), 14 Then he desires that I should add more. 15 No! Indeed, he has been toward Our verses obstinate. 16 We shall make him suffer the torment of hell without relief. 17 He reflected, and then determined 18 Perish he! How maliciously he devised! 19 May be then be accursed, how he plotted! 20 Then he beheld, 21 then he frowned, and scowled, 22 Then turned he away in pride 23 And said, "This is not but magic imitated [from others]. 24 Nothing more than the speech of a man!" 25 I will cast him into hell. 26 And what will make you realize what hell is? 27 It lets nothing remain and leaves nothing [unburned], 28 it scorches the skin; 29 Over it are nineteen [powers]. 30 We have appointed none but angels to guard the Fire, and made their number only as a trial for the unbelievers, so that those to whom the Book was given are certain and those who believe increase in belief. And that those who were given the Book, and those who believe will not be in doubt. And that those in whose hearts there is a sickness, together with the unbelievers, may say: 'What did Allah intend by this as an example' As such, Allah leaves in error whom He will and He guides whomsoever He will. None knows the hosts of your Lord except He. This is no more than a Reminder to humans. 31
