The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
When the sun shall be darkened, 1 And when the stars fall, dispersing, 2 And when the hills are moved, 3 And when the camels big with young are abandoned, 4 the wild beasts are herded together, 5 When the oceans surge and swell, 6 when the souls shall be rejoined (with their bodies), 7 And when the girl buried alive shall be asked: 8 For what crime she was killed; 9 When the scrolls are laid open; 10 when heaven shall be stripped off; 11 When the Blazing Fire is kindled to fierce heat; 12 and Paradise is brought near, 13 [then] each soul shall know what it has put forward. 14 I do not need to swear by the orbiting 15 Moving swiftly and hiding themselves, 16 The closing night, 17 and brightening morning, 18 This is indeed the recitation of an honoured Noble Messenger. (Angel Jibreel – peace and blessings be upon him.) 19 Full of power, well-established (in position) with the Lord and Master of the Throne, 20 Obeyed and worthy there of trust. 21 Your companion is not possessed; 22 And of a truth he saw himself on the clear horizon. 23 He (Muhammad) is not accused of lying about the unseen. 24 This is not the utterance of an accursed devil. 25 When whither go ye? 26 This is naught else than a reminder unto creation, 27 Unto whomsoever of you willeth to walk straight. 28 but your wishing will not avail unless Allah, the Lord of the Universe, so wishes. 29
