The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the sky bursts open, 1 And listens and obeys its Lord, and it must do so; 2 And when the earth is spread out 3 And it unburdens itself of all that is in it, and becomes empty. 4 obeying its Sustainer, as in truth it must: 5 Thou, verily, O man, art working toward thy Lord a work which thou wilt meet (in His presence). 6 Then as to him who is given his book in his right hand, 7 shall be called to an easy accounting, 8 And return to his people in happiness. 9 And as to him who shall be given his book from behind his back 10 they will say, "Woe to us!" 11 and he shall roast at a Blaze. 12 Truly, did he go about among his people, rejoicing! 13 he surely thought he would never revert. 14 Nay, but lo! his Lord is ever looking on him! 15 So indeed I call to witness the evening twilight, 16 and by the night and what it enfolds, 17 And [by] the moon when it becomes full 18 you will progress from stage to stage. 19 So what is [the matter] with them [that] they do not believe, 20 and [that,] when the Qur'an is read unto them, they do not fall down in prostration? ۩ 21 Indeed, those who are bent on denying the truth reject it -- 22 And Allah well knows what they conceal in their hearts. 23 Therefore give to them glad tidings of a painful punishment, 24 But for those who believe and do good works; for them there shall be a never-ending reward. 25
