Certainly Aaron had said to them even before (the return of Moses): "My people, you were fallen into error because of the calf. Surely your Lord is Most Compassionate; so follow me and obey my command." 90 [But] they answered: "By no means shall we cease to worship it until Moses comes back to us!" 91 But (Moses) said: "O Aaron, when you saw that they had gone astray, what hindered you 92 from [abandoning them and] following me? Hast thou, then, [deliberately] disobeyed my commandment?" 93 He [Harun (Aaron)] said: "O son of my mother! Seize (me) not by my beard, nor by my head! Verily, I feared lest you should say: 'You have caused a division among the Children of Israel, and you have not respected my word!' " 94 [Musa (Moses)] said: "And what is the matter with you. O Samiri? (i.e. why did you do so?)" 95 He said, "I saw what they did not see, so I took a handful [of dust] from the track of the messenger and threw it, and thus did my soul entice me." 96 'Begone! Your lot in this life is to cry: "untouchable!' said he (Moses). 'An appointment awaits you that you cannot fail to keep. Look at your god which you clung to indeed we will burn it and scatter its ashes upon the sea' 97 Your God is only Allah, the One other than whom there is no god. He comprehendeth everything in knowledge. 98 And so We narrate to you the stories of the past, and We have given you a remembrance from Us. 99 Whoever turns away from it, will bear a burden on the Day of Resurrection. 100 they will abide in this [state,] and grievous for them will be the weight [of that burden] on the Day of Resurrection 101 The day when the Trumpet is blown. On that day we assemble the guilty white-eyed (with terror), 102 Murmuring among themselves: Ye have tarried but ten (days). 103 We know very well what they will say, when the justest of them in the way will say, 'You have tarried only a day.' 104
