And indeed, [it was for this reason that] Noah cried unto Us - and how excellent was Our response: 75 And We delivered him and his people from the great distress, 76 and caused his offspring to endure [on earth]; 77 And left for him [favorable mention] among later generations: 78 Peace be on Nuh among the worlds. 79 That is how We recompense the righteous: 80 For he was one of our believing Servants. 81 Afterwards We drowned the others. 82 ۞ Abraham was of the same faith: 83 When he came to his Lord with a heart compliant, 84 Recall what time he said unto his father and his people: What is it that ye worship? 85 Is it a falsehood - gods beside Allah - that ye desire? 86 "Then what do you think about the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns, and all that exists)?" 87 Then he looked carefully at the stars 88 And said, "I am sick," 89 And they turned their backs and went away from him. 90 Then he turned to their gods, and said, 'What do you eat? 91 What aileth you that ye speak not? 92 Then he slipped unto them striking them with the right hand. 93 Thereupon the people came running to him. 94 He said: worship ye that which ye carve. 95 “Whereas Allah has created you and your actions?” 96 They said, "Construct for him a furnace and throw him into the burning fire." 97 They had contrived an evil plan against him, but We abased them all. 98 Abraham said: “I am going to my Lord; He will guide me. 99 Lord, grant me a righteous son." 100 Wherefore We gave him the glad tidings of a boy gentle. 101 And when he reached with him [the age of] exertion, he said, "O my son, indeed I have seen in a dream that I [must] sacrifice you, so see what you think." He said, "O my father, do as you are commanded. You will find me, if Allah wills, of the steadfast." 102 When they had surrendered, and he flung him upon his brow, 103 And We called out to him: "O Abraham! 104 you have confirmed your vision' As such We recompense the gooddoers. 105 This was indeed a plain trial. 106 And We ransomed him with a Feat sacrifice. 107 And left (his hallowed memory) for posterity. 108 Peace be on Ibrahim. 109 Verily We! thus We compense the well-doers. 110 Surely he was one of Our believing servants. 111 And We gave him the glad tidings of Ishaque (Isaac) a Prophet from the righteous. 112 And We blessed him and Isaac. But among their descendants is the doer of good and the clearly unjust to himself. 113
