The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ OF WHAT ARE they asking one another? 1 About the great tidings! 2 whereupon they are at variance? 3 Surely yes, they will soon come to know! 4 Again, by no means! anon they shall know. 5 Did We not make the earth a spreading, 6 and the mountains as pegs (to anchor the earth)? 7 We created you in pairs, 8 And made your sleep for rest, 9 And made the night a cover. 10 and We appointed day for a livelihood. 11 And built seven strong roofs above you. 12 And placed a lamp therein brightly burning. 13 And sent down, from the rain clouds, pouring water 14 that We may bring forth thereby grain and plants, 15 and gardens luxuriant. 16 The Day of Judgment will certainly be the final appointment. 17 The day the trumpet blast is sounded you will come in hordes; 18 and when the sky shall be opened up and will become all doors; 19 And the mountains will have been removed away, and they will have become as mirage. 20 Truly Hell is as a place of ambush, 21 It will be a place of return 22 there, they shall live for ages, 23 Therein taste they neither coolness nor (any) drink 24 save boiling water and pus 25 Reward proportioned (to their evil deeds). 26 Verily they were wont not to look for a reckoning. 27 But they belied Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, and that which Our Prophet (Peace be upon him) brought) completely. 28 but We have placed on record every single thing [of what they did]. 29 "So taste [the penalty], and never will We increase you except in torment." 30
