Then, when the Messengers (the angels) came unto the family of Lout (Lot). 61 He said: "You are people I do not know." 62 They said: Nay, but we bring thee that concerning which they keep disputing, 63 and we are bringing thee the certainty [of its fulfilment]: for, behold, we are speaking the truth indeed. 64 So set forth, thou with thy family, in a watch of the night, and follow after the backs of them, and let not any one of you turn round; and depart unto the place you are commanded.' 65 We issued this command to him, for they were going to be destroyed in the morning. 66 The people of the city came to him rejoicing. 67 He said: Surely these are my guests, therefore do not disgrace me, 68 Fear God and do not shame me." 69 They said: forbade we not thee against the worlds? 70 [Lot] said: "[Take instead] these daughters of mine, if you must do [whatever you intend to do]!" 71 By thy life, in their intoxication they were wandering bewildered. 72 But the (mighty) Blast overtook them before morning, 73 And We turned (the cities) upside down, and rained down on them brimstones hard as baked clay. 74 Surely in that are signs for such as mark; 75 And indeed that township is upon a road still in use. 76 Verily, herein lies a message indeed for all who believe [in God]. 77 The dwellers of the Thicket were harmdoers. 78 We therefore took revenge from them; and indeed both these townships are situated on an open road. 79
