And whosoever blindeth himself to the admonition of the Compassionate, We assign unto him a satan, and he becometh his companion. 36 whereupon, behold, these [evil impulses] bar all such from the path [of truth,] making them think that they are guided aright! 37 Till, when (such a one) comes to Us, he says [to his Qarin (Satan / devil companion)] "Would that between me and you were the distance of the two easts (or the east and west)" a worst (type of) companion (indeed)! 38 It will be said [to such a person], "You have done wrong. Having partners in punishment will be of no avail to you today." 39 Then will you make the deaf hear, [O Muhammad], or guide the blind or he who is in clear error? 40 So if We take you away, We shall then indeed take revenge from them. 41 Or (if) We show thee that wherewith We threaten them; for lo! We have complete command of them. 42 So adhere to that which is revealed to you. Indeed, you are on a straight path. 43 The Quran is a reminder to you and to your people and you will soon be questioned about it. 44 And ask thou Our apostles whom We sent before thee: appointed We gods, beside the Compassionate, to be worshipped? 45
