The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
By the Mount 1 And [by] a Book inscribed 2 In an outstretched fine parchment, 3 by the much-frequented House, 4 By the roof elevated. 5 And the swollen sea, 6 Most surely the punishment of your Lord will come to pass; 7 there is no one who could avert it, 8 Upon the Day when the heaven spins dizzily 9 and the mountains shall violently fly about. 10 woe that day unto those that cry lies, 11 Those who are playing in pursuits. 12 on the Day when they shall be thrust into the fire with [an irresistible] thrust, [and will be told:] 13 and they will be told, "This is the fire which you called a lie. 14 Is it magic or do you not still see? 15 Roast in it, bear it with or without patience, it is the same, you are only being recompensed for that which you used to do' 16 Lo! those who kept their duty dwell in gardens and delight, 17 rejoicing in all their Lord has given them, and their Lord will guard them against the punishment of Hell. 18 "Eat and drink with happiness because of what you used to do." 19 reclining on couches arranged in rows. And We shall wed them to fair maidens with large beautiful eyes. 20 And those who believe and whose families follow them in Faith,- to them shall We join their families: Nor shall We deprive them (of the fruit) of aught of their works: (Yet) is each individual in pledge for his deeds. 21 We shall provide them in abundance with such fruit and meat as they desire. 22 while they pass therein a cup one to another wherein is no idle talk, no cause of sin, 23 ۞ Youths as fair as hidden pearls will be set apart to wait upon them; they will be running to and fro to serve them. 24 And some of them draw near unto others, questioning, 25 They will say, "Indeed, we were previously among our people fearful [of displeasing Allah]. 26 "But Allah has been good to us, and has delivered us from the Penalty of the Scorching Wind. 27 Verily, we did invoke Him [alone] ere this: [and now He has shown us] that He alone is truly benign, a true dispenser of grace!" 28
