The Sun (Al-Shams)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
CONSIDER the sun and its radiant brightness, 1 By the Moon as she follows him; 2 and by the day when it displays him 3 and by the night as it envelopes the sun; 4 And [by] the sky and He who constructed it 5 and the earth and all its expanse! 6 By the soul, and That which shaped it 7 And inspired it (with conscience of) what is wrong for it and (what is) right for it. 8 He who purifies it will indeed be successful, 9 And he who confines it will surely come to grief. 10 Thamood belied in their pride 11 when the most wretched of them uprose, 12 The Messenger of God told them, "This is a she-camel, belonging to God. Do not deprive her of her share of water". 13 But they denied him, and they hamstrung her, so Allah doomed them for their sin and rased (their dwellings). 14 And He feared not the consequence thereof 15
