The people of 'Ad accused the messengers of lies. 123 Recall, when their brother Hud said to them: "Have you no fear? 124 Surely I am a faithful apostle to you; 125 "So fear Allah and obey me. 126 And I do not ask you for it any payment. My payment is only from the Lord of the worlds. 127 Build ye on every eminence a landmark in vanity? 128 “And prefer strong palaces, that perhaps you may live for ever?” 129 And if ye seize by force, seize ye as tyrants? 130 Rather keep your duty to Allah, and obey me. 131 And fear Him Who hath aided you with that which ye know. 132 Gave you increase of cattle and sons, 133 gardens, and springs. 134 Surely I fear for you the chastisement of a grievous day 135 They said: It is the same to us whether you admonish or are not one of the admonishers 136 This is not but the custom of the former peoples, 137 "And we are not the ones to receive Pains and Penalties!" 138 So they gave him the lie, then We destroyed them. Most surely there is a sign in this, but most of them do not believe. 139 And verily thy Lord? He is the Mighty, the Merciful. 140
