HAST THOU, then, ever considered him who turns away [from remembering Us, and cares for no more than the life of this world,] 33 Gives a little, then hardens (his heart)? 34 Does he have any knowledge of the world beyond the ken of sense-perception, and therefore, clearly sees (the Truth)? 35 Or, has he not been told of that which is in the Scrolls of Moses 36 and of Abraham, who to his trust was true: 37 That no soul shall bear another's burden, 38 And that man hath only that for which he maketh effort, 39 He will certainly see the result of his labor 40 Then he will be recompensed with a full and the best recompense. 41 and that the final return is to your Lord, 42 And that it is He Who causeth to laugh and causeth to weep. 43 And that it is He Who causeth to die and causeth to live. 44 And that He (Allah) creates the pairs, male and female, 45 from a discharged living germ 46 That the second creation is incumbent on Him; 47 And that it is He who enriches and suffices 48 that He is the Lord of Sirius, 49 And that He destroyed the former 'A-ad. 50 And Samood, so He spared not 51 and before them the nation of Noah, they exceeded in evil and were insolent. 52 and He overthrew the subverted cities [of Sodom and Gomorrah] 53 So that there covered them that which did cover. 54 Concerning which then, of the bounties of thy Lord, canst thou dispute? 55 This is a warner of the warners of old. 56 The approaching event has come near. 57 and none but Allah can avert it. 58 Do you then find these tidings strange? 59 And keep laughing and do not weep, 60 And you are lost in play! 61 So prostrate to Allah and worship [Him]. ۩ 62
