The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the Occurrence occurs, 1 no soul will deny its coming. 2 Abasing (some), exalting (others); 3 When the earth shall be shaken to its depths, 4 And the mountains shall be made to crumble with (an awful) crumbling, 5 So they will become like fine dust, scattered in a shaft of light. 6 You will become three categories: 7 Then (there will be) the Companions of the Right Hand;- What will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 8 And (as to) the companions of the left hand; how wretched are the companions of the left hand! 9 And the foremost in the race, the foremost in the race: 10 those are they brought near (to their Lord) 11 in the beautiful Paradise. 12 A number of the earlier peoples, 13 And a few of the later peoples, 14 They (will be seated) on gold-encrusted couches, 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 There will circulate among them young boys made eternal 17 With goblets and ewers and a cup of pure drink; 18 They shall not be affected with headache thereby, nor shall they get exhausted, 19 And with fruits, any that they may select: 20 and with the flesh of any fowl that they may desire to eat; 21 And wide eyed houris 22 like the pearls in their shells: 23 Reward for what they used to do. 24 They will not hear any unnecessary or sinful talk 25 only the words of peace and tranquillity. 26 And the fellows on the right hand; how be happy shall the fellows on the right hand be! 27 Amid thornless lote-trees, 28 Among Talh (banana-trees) with fruits piled one above another, 29 and shade extended, 30 And water poured out 31 and fruits in abundance, 32 That will neither finish, nor ever be stopped. 33 And raised couches. 34 Perfectly We formed them, perfect, 35 And made them virgins. 36 chastely amorous, 37 like of age for the Companions of the Right. 38
