The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
By the pluckers (the angels of death), violently plucking (the souls of the unbelievers), 1 And those who undo the bonds gently, 2 By the angels who glide swimmingly, 3 And those who race each other in a race 4 And by those angels who arrange to do the Commands of their Lord, (so verily, you disbelievers will be called to account). 5 The day the convulsive (first blast) shatters convulsively 6 to be followed by further [convulsions]! 7 Hearts on that day shall palpitate, 8 Their eyes humbled. 9 [And yet,] some say: "What! Are we indeed to be restored to our former state 10 "Even after we are crumbled bones?" 11 They have said, "Such a resurrection will certainly be a great loss". 12 [But,] then, that [Last Hour] will be [upon them of a sudden, as if it were] but a single accusing cry 13 And lo! they all shall appear on the surface. 14 Have you heard the story of Moses? 15 His Lord called to him in the Sacred Valley of Towa, 16 "Go unto Pharaoh - for, verily, he has transgressed all bounds of what is right 17 "And say to him, 'Wouldst thou that thou shouldst be purified (from sin)?- 18 that I may direct you to your Lord and then you hold Him in awe?'” 19 He showed him the mighty sign, 20 But (Pharaoh) rejected it and disobeyed (guidance); 21 Then he went back hastily. 22 And assembled (his council) and proclaimed, 23 and proclaimed, "I am your supreme Lord," 24 you pay attention 25 Surely, in this there is a lesson for he that fears! 26
