Al-Layl
The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
I swear by the night when it draws a veil, 1 And the day when it shines in brightness, 2 And [by] He who created the male and female, 3 Indeed your efforts differ. 4 Thus, as for him who gives [to others] and is conscious of God, 5 and confirms the reward most fair, 6 We shall surely ease him to the Easing. 7 And as for him who is niggardly and considers himself free from need (of Allah), 8 and rejects what is right, 9 We shall surely ease for him the Path of Hardship (the Fire). 10 And his wealth will not avail him when he perishes. 11 It is indeed for Us to show the way, 12 And indeed, to Us belongs the Hereafter and the first [life]. 13 So I have warned you of a Fire which is blazing. 14 in which none shall be roasted except the most wretched sinner, 15 He who denieth and turneth away. 16 The pious ones will be safe from this fire 17 Who giveth away his substance that he may be cleansed, 18 They do not expect any reward 19 except the pleasure of their Lord, the Most High 20 and he shall surely be satisfied. 21
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
