Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
By the winds that scatter the dust, 1 Then by oath of those which carry the burdens. 2 Then those (ships) that glide easily, 3 And the angels who distribute the affair. 4 that what you are promised is certainly true 5 And the judgment must most surely come about. 6 The heavens webbed-with-tracks is witness 7 Truly ye are in a doctrine discordant, 8 though only those who are averse to the Truth will turn away from (believing in it). 9 Death to those whose opinions are merely baseless conjectures. 10 Those who are in heedlessness neglectful. 11 They ask: “When will the Day of Judgement be?” 12 (It is) the day on which they shall be tried at the fire. 13 And told: "Taste your punishment. This is what you were trying to hasten." 14 [But,] behold, the God-conscious will find themselves amid gardens and springs, 15 Taking joy in the things which their Lord gives them, because, before then, they lived a good life. 16 They slept but a little at night, 17 and would ask for forgiveness at dawn, 18 and the beggar and the outcast had a share in their wealth. 19 There are signs in the earth for those who are firm in their faith, 20 just as [there are signs thereof] within your own selves: can you not, then, see? 21 In heaven is your sustenance, and also that which you are promised. 22 for, by the Sustainer of heaven and earth, this [life after death] is the very truth - as true as that you are endowed with speech! 23
