The Mountain (Al-Toor)
49 verses, revealed in Mecca after Prostration (Al-Sajdah) before Kingship (Al-Mulk)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
By the Mount; 1 by the book (Torah) written 2 In parchment unrolled. 3 And [by] the frequented House 4 By the Canopy Raised High; 5 And the sea kept filled, 6 Verily, the Torment of your Lord will surely come to pass, 7 Of it there is no averter. 8 On the day when the heaven shall move from side to side 9 And the mountains move away with (awful) movement, 10 So woe on that day to those who reject (the truth), 11 That play (and paddle) in shallow trifles. 12 On the Day when they shall be thrust into Hell with a violent thrust (and shall be told): 13 This is the Fire which ye were wont to believe. 14 Is it magic, or you cannot see? 15 Roast in it. Bear it with patience or impatience, it will be the same for you. You will be requited for what you had done." 16 But in the Gardens the righteous shall live in bliss, 17 talking of what they have received from their Lord and of how their Lord has saved them from the torment of hell. 18 [They will be told], "Eat and drink in satisfaction for what you used to do." 19 They will recline (with ease) on thrones arranged in ranks. And We shall marry them to Houris (female, fair ones) with wide lovely eyes. 20 And those who believed, and their seed followed them in belief, We shall join their seed with them, and We shall not defraud them of aught of their work; every man shall be pledged for what he earned. 21 And We shall increasingly give them fruit and meat such as they desire. 22 They will therein snatch from one another a cup; therein will be neither vain babble nor sin. 23 ۞ There will circulate among them [servant] boys [especially] for them, as if they were pearls well-protected. 24 They will ask each other questions, 25 They will say: verily we were aforetime, midst our household, ever in dread. 26 and so God has graced us with His favour, and has warded off from us all suffering through the scorching winds [of frustration]. 27 "Verily, We used to invoke Him (Alone and none else) before. Verily, He is Al-Barr (the Most Subtle, Kind, Courteous, and Generous), the Most Merciful." 28

قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
